An excerpt from my paper journal.

As I begin to update my blog with submissions from my private, personal journal, it is important to note that the dates will be off. What I wrote in my journal in September, will have a date of September, October, or November inside.

As we begin to truly get into the full swing of the semester, I really am beginning to see how a simple assignment can have so much value in the grand scheme in my education.
Sure, writing the Biopoem was simple, small, and didn't take a lot of my time, however it was a nice release from over analyzing research on multiple intelligences, reading boring chapters on the founding of the U.S. Constitution that was written over 50 years ago by a dead, white, Christian man!
Writing the biopoem gave me a chance to share a small glimpse into my personality with my classmates. While I am a very vocal person, I feel the entire class wouldn't know about my love for stiletto heels if I didn't let them know myself!
I think introductory activities like these are important for teachers to do with their class so that they can get to know their students and bond with them on commonalities.
I plan on using some activities like the aforementioned so that I can get to know my students and then I will have a better understanding of the type of students they are!
A truly great night this was in class.

stressed, hungry, and esctatic!

Well, I know I haven't wrote in quite a long time, however it has been with good reason. I typically don't blog. I write like Esme`, paper and pen, in a notebook, for my eyes only. It is something that gives me comfort and solace in a world that is full of corruption and injustice, especially in the education system!
Anywho, I secretly found out my placements for Student Teaching in January, and let me just say that I am ecstatic, however I am scared to death as well. I am student teaching with the man that inspired me to watch to teach history in an urban school.
Several thoughts run through my mind however.
  • Do I know enough history? This man knows everything, how can I ever compare?
  • Will our relationship as student/teacher be weird as we become colleagues?
  • Will the students at my former H.S. respect me or expect me to be buddy/buddy with them because I know some of their older brothers and sisters?
  • How can I prepare in the few weeks I have off from classes, however I have no time off from work!

First night

Tonight is our first night in EDU 511.
This is my sample blog for the evening to show that I know what to do!
